There are a total of 24 teams participating in the league in two groups (A, B) for the TBL2 2011–12 season. Each team play each other in their group twice during the regular season.
8 teams from every group qualify for the play-offs and they play the other group teams in a 2-game win mode (such as A1-B8, A2-B7, etc.). The last four teams qualify for the Final Four and they play each other once in an earlier decided city. The first two teams are promoted to the Turkish Basketball First League for the next season. The last two teams in each group relegate to the Third League.
